Aliyah Boston

2024 Excellence in Broadcasting Honoree

Newcomer of the Year

Aliyah Boston is a trailblazer in the new generation of athletes. At the age of 12, Aliyah and her sister Alexis moved to Massachusetts from their hometown St. Thomas, USVI to pursue their future in basketball. Aliyah went on to join USA’s national basketball team and became a McDonald’s All-American in high school.

After high school, she played for four years at the University of South Carolina where she led their women’s basketball program to their 2nd national championship. Aliyah was drafted as the #1 overall pick in the 2023 WNBA draft to the Indiana Fever. In her rookie season, she became the youngest player ever to start an WNBA All-Star game, and went on to unanimously win Rookie of the Year.

Aliyah showcases heart and passion both on and off the field. She is a family oriented and community driven individual whose goal is to consistently give back. This goal is exemplified through her annual girls’ basketball camp on St. Thomas, when Aliyah returns to her hometown to grow the game of basketball and give other young girls the opportunity to learn the game as she did. Aliyah’s outgoing personality is showcased in everything she does.

Aliyah is truly a well-rounded athlete and her success will continue to rise in the coming years

Aliyah launched her TV career in October 2023 joining Peacock as an in studio analyst for Big Ten basketball where she provided her keen insight based on her recent familiarity with many of the players and coaches.

The award will be presented at a virtual ceremony Thursday April 11th. 2024

“Aliyah has demonstrated professionalism, expertise and a deep understanding of basketball on and off the court. I am so proud to see her excel in this role. She serves as an inspiration for other aspiring female sports broadcasters, encouraging diversity and equal representation in sports media”
