Jaloni Cambridge Named the 2026 Dawn Staley Award Winner.

The Phoenix Club of Philadelphia has selected Jaloni Cambridge (Ohio State University) as the 2026 Dawn Staley honoree.

The Award is given annually to a player who exemplifies the skills that Dawn possessed throughout her career; ball handling, scoring, her ability to distribute the basketball and her will to win.

Jaloni was a first team Big 10 selection while averaging 23.2 ppg, 5.6 rebounds and 4.4 assists, earning all American honors from the Associated press, US Basketball Writers Association and Sporting News Magazine.

Jaloni led her team to the NCAA tournament while scoring 41 points in a 83 -73 second round loss to Notre Dame.

Past Honorees include:

Skylar Diggins Smith, Odyssey Sims, Moriah Jefferson, Tiffany Mitchell, Kelsey Plum, Kelsey Mitchell, Asia Durr, Tyasha Harris, Caitlin Clark, Hannah Hidalgo and Ju Ju Watkins.

Jaloni will be honored during a private virtual ceremony Thursday April 9 ^th 2026.

The Phoenix Club of Philadelphia has selected JuJu Watkins as this year's recipient of the Dawn Staley Award given annually to a player who exemplifies the skills that Dawn possessed - ball handling, scoring, her ability to distribute the basketball, and her will to win.

JuJu concluded her season averaging 23.9 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists. JuJu led her team to an overall 31-4 record and 17-1 in the Big Ten.

Her accomplishments include:

Big Ten player of the year
AP first team All-American/AP National Player Of the Year
Naismith Player of the Year

JuJu will be honored during a private virtual Ceremony Thursday April 10, 2025 6pm (EST).

The Phoenix Club of Philadelphia has selected Caitlin Clark as the 2023 Dawn Staley Award honoree. The award is given annually to a player who exemplifies the skills that Dawn possessed throughout her career; ball handling, scoring, her ability to distribute the basketball and her will to win. This is Caitlin’s third year as recipient of the award. Clark was this year’s Big 10 player of the year while posting unprecedented numbers of 984 points,311 assists, 262 rebounds and 56 steals. She led her team in winning the Big 10 Championship while also landing a trip to the final four where she will be going up against Dawn Staley’s South Carolina Gamecocks.

Caitlin will be honored during a virtual Ceremony Thursday April 6 ^th.

Caitlin led the nation in scoring (27.0) and assist ( 8.) as well as leading the Iowa Hawkeyes to a share of the BIG 10 season title and the conference championship. Caitlin is the Award’s first ever back to back winner, given to the most outstanding collegiate guard in the country who exemplifies the skills that Dawn possessed during her career (ball handling, scoring, her ability to distribute the basketball and her will to win)

The Phoenix Club of Philadelphia has announced that Caitlin Clark is this year’s Dawn Staley Award Winner. The freshman All American guard led the nation in scoring and assists averaging 26.7 and 7.13 respectively. She was named the BIG TEN and WBCA freshman of the year and led her team to the Sweet Sixteen.

“It’s always a special day when we give out the Dawn Staley Award, but I absolutely love that this year it's going to be a freshman because it means fans of our game get to watch Caitlin Clark, an absolute star for so many years. Caitlin Clark is so talented. She can score from anywhere, has incredible vision for someone so young and is a relentless defender. Those of us who pay attention to this game have known about her for some time, but the world is now getting to see what she can do on the biggest of stages. The Phoenix Club of Philadelphia has announced its finalists for this year’s Dawn Staley Award:

Rhyne Howard - University of Kentucky

Paige Bueckers - University of Connecticut

Dana Evans - University of Louisville

Caitlin Clark - University of Iowa

Arella Guirantes - Rutgers University

We are also pleased to announce this year’s “Excellence in Broadcasting Award” honoree, Tiffany Greene. The award is given to a female in sports broadcasting who has demonstrated excellence in her profession.

Tiffany is one the most diverse broadcasters in the industry. She covers a variety of collegiate sports including basketball, football, softball and volleyball. Tiffany is the first Black Woman to serve as a play-by-play commentator for college football on ESPN. Previous winners include Vera Jones, La China Robinson and Hollie Rowe.

The winner of the Dawn Staley Award will be announced during the weekend of the Final Four and will be honored during a virtual ceremony Thursday April 8th, 2021.

Tiffany Greene will also be honored as part of the Dawn Staley Award Ceremony.

The Phoenix Club of Philadelphia has announced that Tyasha Harris is this year’s Dawn Staley Award winner. Tyasha Harris, the senior all-American guard from south Carolina, averaged 12.1 points and 5.7 assist per game. She led her team to a number one national ranking and a regular season Sec and conference championship. Tyasha essentially was the best guard on the best team in the country.

“It is a humbling thing each year to see the nation’s best guard be acknowledged as such with an award named after me, but this year it is a particular honor; The Dawn Staley Award going to a player I have had the immense privilege to coach over the last four years. Ty Harris is a special guard, a special player, a special person.

She won a national championship as a freshman and spent the next two years working harder than any player in the country, honing her talents and quietly building one of the great careers in South Carolina history. This year it all paid off and the entire basketball world got to see her vision, her scoring ability, her tenacity and her leadership as she raised her team to be the best in the nation. I could not be more proud of this young women and it is my distinct honor to recognize Ty Harris as the 2020 recipient of the Dawn Staley Award” …..said Dawn Staley

Asia Durr, Senior Guard, has been named the recipient of the 2019 Dawn Staley Award.

“The Dawn Staley Award is given to the most outstanding collegiate guard in the country, a player who exemplifies the skills that Dawn possessed during her career (ball handling, scoring, her ability to distribute the basketball and her will to win),” says Michael G. Horsey, Founder of the Phoenix Club of Philadelphia.

“Asia is what the award embodies. She’s an electrifying and dynamic player who plays on both sides of the ball.”, says Dawn Staley.

Asia Durr, a 5’10” senior guard from Louisville University. Asia is this year’s ACC “Player of the Year”, 1st team all ACC and 1st team All-American, averaged 21.3 points per game.

Dawn Staley will present the award to Asia Durr during the Phoenix Club of Philadelphia’s Dawn Staley Award reception on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at the prestigious Union League of Philadelphia.

Kelsey Mitchell named the recipient of the 2018 Dawn Staley Award.

“The Dawn Staley Award is given to the most outstanding collegiate guard in the country, a player who exemplifies the skills that Dawn possessed during her career (ball handling, scoring, her ability to distribute the basketball and her will to win,” says Michael G. Horsey, Founder of the Phoenix Club of Philadelphia.

“Kelsey Mitchell is the kind of player who makes this award mean so much to me,” says Dawn Staley.

Kelsey Mitchell, a 5’8” senior guard from Ohio State University, is the second all-time NCAA scoring leader exceeding the mark this year (3.393 points) held by Jackie Stiles.

Kelsey is this year’s big ten “Player of the Year,” 1st team all Big Ten and averaged 24.3 points per game.

Dawn Staley will present the award to Kelsey Mitchell during the Phoenix Club of Philadelphia’s Dawn Staley Award reception on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at the prestigious Union League of Philadelphia.
